Very Good and Dependable GPS for your Car

It might be new in 2014, but Garmin automatically updates the maps, all you need to do is download Garmin Express for free onto your desktop. I lost mine, bought this one second hand on eBay for 15, and it works like charm. If you'd rather waste your money on something newer, be my guest. Excellent product that works very well, and that I've literally used to successfully navigate the worst NYC has to offer.

    Poor product

This product is difficult to use and had old outdated maps. The most difficult part was the delay, often you would be a block or two past the turn before it would tell you to turn. The instructions to update were printed on a piece of copy paper and did not allow update. It was basically worthless and a waste of money.

  • IMO the best GPS for what I need

I've had several GPS's over the years. Sure, they did more things, like played music and kinda warned me of traffic ahead. That said I ended up using my older Nuvi 50 and now have three. I want a GPS to do one thing---GET ME FROM A TO B. The Nuvi 50 does that perfectly. I have the 50LM's which have free lifetime map upgrades. BTW that's an easy process. Stick with the Nuvi 50, the later models like the Nuvi 52 don't have the bright screen and the sharp contrasting colors the 50 has. My Nissan Altima has a build-in GPS that just sucks compared to my Nuni's. When I need a GPS while driving the Altima the built-in remains off and a Nuvi 50 happily sits on top of my dash in its beanbag.

  • So Far So Good!

I bought this GPS to replace the exact model that I already Owned. I left the original one exposed to the Florida sun too often. Result: the screen developed a rectangular dark space, making it impossible to read. The one I got with this purchase works very well. This time I am NOT leaving it exposed to heat and sunlight! It's an "open box" item but the operation and value are excellent. A very good purchase.

  • As good as any , better than some.

I bought this GPS for use on a motorcycle. The screen is bright enough to use outside and it seems to calculate the routes quickly. I wish the power connector wasn't so fragile. I broke the power port on another GPS like this one by not having the cord lined up just right while plugging it in. Otherwise it would have been a five star review. And yes, I know it's not designed to be on a motorcycle but I wouldn't pay $300 plus for one that is. Great GPS!

  • Used Garmon Nuvi Navi.

This used navigation unit is easy to use, just plug it in. It is easy to see the screen, shows the maps correctly. The Garmon NUVI has lifetime free maps upgrades, the complete map upgrade was completed in about 15 minutes, it is now loaded with the newest map information. There is nothing more to say, it operates like a brand new unit.

  • Look no further!

I bought this Garmin for our upcoming trip to Europe so I am not sure how it will perform over there yet. However, in the USA, this GPS is easy to use, has a nice size screen that's easy to read and gives 'what's up ahead' details that can be very needed in unknown states, provinces or countries. This item is well worth the money.

  • NUVI 40

Works great but after purchase I discovered that Garmin wants About $80 for an updated map. That sucks! However, I will use this unit as it is very accurate .

  • Great basic GPS

Not a lot of bells and whistles, but has a decent size screen and performs the basic navigational functions very well.
