Of course we are dealing with a man in a rubber suit movie. We all get that and overlook it, He is just entertaining and we love the characters and the monster battles. This addition to the Godzilla saga tries to add a little more drama and a little less Godzilla. The same themes are there, don't mess with nature, science is both good and evil depending on how it is used, and man is the true evil in the universe. If you can get over the fact that Godzilla is fighting a large rose in the beginning of the movie, and the cheap spy vs. spy side line story, the movie plays pretty well. What doesn't work well is the fact Biollante is supposed to be the bad guy. There is nothing menacing about the plant and we really can't figure out why Godzilla is so pissed at it other than it was his cells that helped create it. Add to it the confusing psychic theme that is never fully developed, it ends up being a hard to understand movie with good special effects and some moral tale to munch on with our biollante salad.
