    Useless at night

    The item arrived on time and in good condition. I was immediately struck by how useless the back light is. The photos show a bright backlight and easily read high contrast display. Nothing could be further from the truth. There might as well be no backlight for even in near pitch black conditions it is barely visible. The device seems well made otherwise. The enclosed manual is not bad and in acceptable English which was a pleasant surprise. The manual release will apparently function even without batteries which is also nice to know. If you are purchasing this for use at night you will be wasting your money. In daylight it will be ok.
