    Just the right parts, but requires moderate mechanical expertise and tools

    Need to remove the starter to replace these parts, which can be done without removing the flywheel if you are good with an open end wrench and a excess of patience to get the one bolt rethreaded under the flywheel. Also, the C ring/clip is a real challenge both to remove the old one and to seat the new one. Be prepared with the right tools and some good mechanical acumen, or a great deal of patience and resourcefulness as an alternative. Either way do not attempt this replacement over grass or in a place that would be impossible to locate that little C clip if it goes flying as you try and seat it. Mine did a couple times. Lose that clip and you're done.

    Briggs & Stratton Starter Drive Gear Kit

    So nice to find this starter kit. The price is great, and an easy install. When the plastic gear goes out its starter, just put a new gear, and voila! it starts the engine.
