I bought the G2 to replace my Zoom 505 that I've had and loved for 16 years. The G2 has many features and can be programmed for many different settings. I like the pedal very much, but it just doesn't seem to sound near as good as my 505. Don't get me wrong, it sounds good, just not as good as my 505. The G2 is a little bit more complicated to work with, but is still user friendly. I like the rhythm/drum machine effect for practicing. The tuner is good, but once again, not as good as the 505. Its a little less easy to just look at and tune. This is a good effects pedal, but takes some time to get used to, especially when compared to the simplicity of my 505.
Couldn't afford it when it came out, And now that I have it it compares with my friend's boss me-70 and even my friends line 6. Tap tempo, tons of effects. The distortion has a few wierd artefacts when you're not in direct mode, but when you're running through an amp, it's killer. Runs on USB Bus power and batteries which is essential here. The five second looper is a bit too short, but the drum machines are good for practicing with. I think that's enough said, all in all it's simple, works great, is an audio interface, and hits every tone I need from blues to punk to some neat acoustic tones too. So glad I won this one.

When I was looking for a effects processor, the ability to do standard effects was a must, obviously. But other required features were the ability to be able to improv with some builtin backing tracks in a few majors and minors and be able to do Good and varied rhythms (Latter was at least a big plus.) The Zoom G2 does a great job at the different effects, and also the rhythm set is nice (but a pain to change on the fly - for instance from 4/4 to 3/4 or shift from 16 beats to blues1, say), But the major disappointment is that there are no builtin backing tracks - just the rhythm loops. And, maybe for newbies like me, the software is not self explanatory enough to help create my own tracks from existing CDs. In this regard, the KORG P5XD, or even its predecessor the P4XD does very well - particularly the variety of the backing bass tracks and the ability to select by major or minor. So, yes - it is good for somethings... but not the most versatile processor out there for the money.Read full review
This pedal does it all. I have a peavey vypyr amp i literally keep on clean at all times. Plus this pedal is a looper and feeds the sound to your computer via usb. Best guitar investment ive made other than my guitars
