This is a basic 35mm film camera with auto focus, plus manual focus, and built in flash. Would make a good starter camera for the beginning photographer. Not alot of complicated setting on this camera. Lenses can be used on Minolta higher end cameras. Light weight, solid built, with flash. Dislikes - it takes a more expensive battery then the AA or AAA cameras.
I have always been a faithful user of KONICA cameras which I consider to be the best. Recently I found this Auto Focus MINOLTA MAXXUM 400si with a 35-70mm zoom lens very reasonably priced. So I bought it. This camera is everything I thought it to be. Lightweight, easy access features, quick auto focus, and kept very clean by the previous owner. It came with a good battery and because it has a pop up flash it wasn't necessary to purchase a shoe mount external flash. Just add film and your good to go. If you are someone who has always used point and shoot cameras but thought about upgrading your photographic enthusiasm, this is a camera that will get you on your way effortlessly.
I have to say, that you can buy this Minolta Maxxum 400SI Film Camera & it will last you a Life time. I have 2 of them & the Pictures it takes are as good as any Professional could take. The Auto Focus Lenses are very affordable & finding them on Ebay is really easy. You can still use the Camera in Manual Focus, if you want to. The Auto Focus Lenses also work on the New Sony Digital Cameras also. All of the Minolta Maxxum Lenses will fit on this camera. Be sure to look at the bottom of the Lens and count the Electric Connectors, and if you count 5 pins in a row, you have the right lens. If you cannot see them in the Listing on Ebay, just ask the Seller a Question & they will be glad to count the Pins for you so that you know you have the right lens. I hope this will help someone to be able to buy a 35mm Camera and or a Lens for your camera.Read full review
the maxxum are slr camera that almost takes the picture itself!! the one in this case has the standard for all slr cameras of it's type manual auto & program like the flower for marco, settings, ETC also the program mode is on when you turn it on so you have to push the mode button to go into auto mode also the flash does not turn on auto you must push it up to turn it on also this camera uses the xi/si lens so it has motorized zoom and power focus in manual focus mode that's power zoom in auto focus mode
I purchased this particular camera because my Dad bought it for my mom a few years ago for christmas. It always took the BEST pictures! The camera I purchased was in excellant condition and came with the bag, instructions and a zoom lense. I have already taken at least 6 rolls of film with it and the pictures came out Wonderful. I am not a big fan of digital cameras, I do not feel they have the picture quality that Film cameras have especially this particular camera. I have been extremely Happy with this purchase.
