About this product

Product Information

This classic 80s SLR camera has a manual focus, auto exposure, and auto 35mm film loading. Its automatic programmed exposure system is controlled by TTL metering and its impressive shutter speeds are up to 1 - 1/2000 seconds. It is probably the smallest Nikon 35mm film camera with a motorized film transport to be produced. The camera was also the first Nikon SLR to utilize DX film speed decoding, which automatically senses the speed, number of frames and exposure tolerance of the film. It also had a revolutionary automatic advance rate of 2.5 fps. It was released onto markets around the world in the mid-80s and is known as the F301 outside the USA and the N2000 in the USA. The main selling point of the Nikon N2000 was that it was the first 35 mm Nikon SLR without the film advance lever and this was considered a big innovation, because it allowed you to shoot photos continuously, without having to miss a shot to stop and advance the film. Another innovation that came with the N2000 was the material used to construct its body. Its polycarbonates structured body makes it not only durable, but marked a new era in the evolution of RLR film cameras and a new era for Nikon The selector knob, also used to lock the button, has a continuous option in addition to the single shot. A standard hot shoe mount sits above the viewfinder to attach the flash. The Nikon N2000 does not feature a built-in pop-up flash. The N2000 can be manually preset for 35mm film speeds from ISO 12 to ISO 3200, or this can be left to the camera, through the DX feature. It has a common F bayonet to mount it on most tripods. The camera is powered by four AAA batteries. A MB-3 battery pack could be used instead of the standard MB-4, enabling AA batteries to be used instead of AAA. The placement of the batteries meant that the tripod bush on the baseplate is offset from the center of the device. The AH-3 tripod adapter could be used to rectify this, though it adds extra bulk to the camera. There is a variety of new and old Nikkor lenses compatible with this camera body. Its outer layers are entirely of a solid black plastic, with texture for gripping and there are rings to add a strap on either side of the device. This N2000 35mm film cameras is fully functional with years of images left to shoot. The N2000 (aka F301) was at the cutting edge of technology for lovers of film photography until the digital days, but continues to be a coveted piece of photographic equipment among those who prefer the slow photography of the past. Just as when it was first released, it continues to impress photographers and collectors around the world, with its solid design and ability to shoot fast and accurate photos.

    Does not work

I bought this camera because I had the exact same one and had an issue with the strips inside. The condition of the purchased one was good except that battery compartment was a slightly corroded. I did clean it out and it still didn't work. I tried the battery compartment in my old camera in the new one and it didn't work. The battery compartment in the purchased one worked in the old one.

  • Love this camera. Nikon does not disappoint.

This camera is a wonderful camera! I would recommend it to anyone looking to buy an SLR camera. It's on lower end of the spectrum for cost but it has a very good value. It is the first of it's kind to have an auto focus and that is wonderful. I've always been a Nikon user and this camera doesn't disappoint. The only issue i found with this camera was that it is a little on the heavier side but this is mostly due to my use of heavier lens' plus it's solid build. Good buy! Slight learning curve! Would recommend purchasing a manual or finding a pdf online.

  • Really fun camera. Geat manual features.

It's my understanding that the N2000 was the first polycarbonite body in Nikons arsonal. This boldy has a really nice feel in your hand. I used mine with an old Nikkor 50mm lens and have gotten some exciting results. Check my blog at wynndy.tumblr.com. Great manual camera with Quick focus feature.

  • not wat my daughter wanted

I have since resold it and bought another Nikon that my daughter wanted; still a film camera but one that is more modern and easier to use.

  • Great Camera that works as described.

This is a great camera that works well and functions exactly as described. I wish it had a body cap, but that is my only complaint.
