My setup for this review is: Sony A77V & Sony A77m2 + Sigma 500Ex, Sigma 50-500, Sigma 18-250 Also, to clarify: I have used Kenko's MC4 x1.4 for the past year in the following setup: A77m2+Sigma 500Ex +Kenko x1.4, with good resuts. x2 Converters are known to be problematic, and this one unfortunately is no exeption. Kenko made the best effort yet (that I've seen) to supply a usefull product. It is the first converter that can be mounted mechanically on all 3 lenses, no problem. It also carries through the AF, but here it where it fails!! Using the different setups, applicable to the 3 lenses and 2 bodies, only ONE combination seemed to work, and precariously at best which was the Sony A77m2+Sigma 500Ex + Kenko x2. It gave me once or twice a good enough focus, but otherwise it missed ...

  • If you need more reach this one is a bargain with correct Exif data.

Good Substitute if you are unable to find a Kenko 300 Pro 1.4 that model has been out of production for quite some time, The Pro has 5 Elements while the DGX has 4 , It still does a good job but don't expect autofocus over 5.6 F stop and you must have good light at that Stop , Performs best on Primes but will AF on faster Zoom lenses, The DGX has coated elements and helps with CA that Plagues most Teleconverters. Correct Exif data is transmitted as well while the Tamron SP 1.4 and Kenko Pro 300 1.4's do not for the DGX was engineered for Digital. All T/C's diminish IQ and the 1.4 is a much better choice than the 2X in that aspect. The faster the lens the better the teleconverter will work.
