Good for older cameras...
I bought this as a backup to use with my Alpha A65. It does not have the auto exposure features of my HVL-F58AM. It will probably be okay for outdoor use, but the Sony flash is better for every situation.

Good all around flash
Only runs at full power with Sony Cameras but when I use it that works for me and why I bought it. I use a Sony A350 and it looks with this mounted to it. I can't afford to pay more for a sony flash then a camera cost. This flash serves me well but not for close ups much further back. Sony should have made the alpha work better with some Minolta accessories the lens work great but the flashes that is another story altogether. For the price I couldn't go wrong on this unit and am very happy with it even though it is used for further distance.Only runs at full power with Sony Cameras but when I use it that works for me and why I bought it. Adequate for a second flash
This flash works well CONNECTED to the camera (Sony) as a fill flash. It will NOT work in any form as a wireless flash, nor will it trigger other Sony/Minolta wireless flash. It has only two settings, high and low. It can be used with a Cowboy wireless adapter for Sony and Aputure Pro-Grade TTL Off-Camera Hot-Shoe Flash Sync Cable.

AWESOME!!!!
I had a lot of problems when I used to take pics with the flash that was built into my Minolta 400si. As soon as I attached this external flash and took some pics, I noticed (and then saw) the difference! The pics are so clear and have good quality now. I'm so glad I was able to found it.
