So, I was able to get this mid range razor for about the price of a low end razor on ebay, partially because its not a highly advertised product. However, it has several of the nice features you'd find on high end razor and not on the cheap models (battery remaining in percentage and hours/minutes, extra razor blades, and faster motor). It doesn't have the turbo mode you would get on the 5 razors and because of the age I believe this is the 12,000 rpm instead of 13,000 rpm but it still shaves very close and very comfortable. It doesn't contour like a rotary head but it does flex and does a good job under the nose. While it does cut some of the hard hairs on my face, some that my rotary wouldn't cut well, it doesn't do well with some of the hair on my neck like the ones at odd angles. All in all, this is the first foil that I have liked as well or better than a rotary and a big step up from my old $45 models that I would buy. The replacement blades are going to be expensive as always but I just might keep this shaver when it comes time to replace the blades, unlike other shavers that I've had.Read full review

Despite all the hoopla over the Braun Series, especially the $300 Series 9, I think this shaver is just as good. While I don't have a Braun 9, I do have a Braun 7, and it is spectacularly just OK. For one thing, the Braun models have a replaceable cutter and foil in one unit, which means you can't manually clean the cutters as well as you might want. This Panasonic lets you have access to the cutters and foil separately. They can be replaced individually, too. Moreover, this Panasonic cuts closer than the Braun. In fact, I can shave with the Arc 4 after shaving with the Series 7, and take off more whiskers. The secret to the superior performance is the 13,000 cpm power of the linear motor. And also the Nanoblade technology which makes the blades especially sharp and efficient. Years ago, I had another Panasonic Linear shaver, but this is a huge improvement over that. OK, the top-of-the-line Arc 5 has a 5th blade and a slightly bigger cutting surface . But I don't miss the 5th blade at all.Read full review

My man has a rather thick beard and his rotary shaver did a bad job and the heads didn't last very long like they should so I went searching for another electric razor for him. I never knew an electric razor could offer such a close shave! He stays smooth most of the day too, even by evening his face is still pretty smooth. It's not perfect, he does still have problem areas that don't get 100% smooth, but this is leaps and bounds ahead of what he had before. And the price can't be beat!

This is an old model by now, but it's hard to imagine the newer version of this dependable design works much better. When this model was current it retailed for more than two hundred bucks, and now it's less than a hundred. Depending on beard toughness and growth you'll have to change the blades and foil every 8 to 12 months, but it's easy to clean and delivers a clean shave in less than two minutes. What's not to like?

This is by far the best electric razor ever that I owned. Far better than my previous Braun 3 series. Love the digital display for usage minutes and battery life remaining. Highly recommend!
