Good read,more indepth about the characters.
I bought this book because I'm going through a bit of nastalgia and remembering when I was in my teens and would see a movie and go look for the book afterwards. When the movie came out in 79' it was really the begining of Sci-fi Horror and it was really cool. I saw it opening day and the first thing I did afterwards was go to the Century Book store inside the Forum 303 mall and buy this novel. The book is a really good read and gives alot more detail about the ill fated crew of the Nostromo. You find out in some cases a more closer bond between the main characters than is seen in the movie. Plus it's uncut and gives all the details that you miss in the movie. It doesn't have the "Space Jockey" part in it but it more than makes up for it. It's also funny to read because there are ... So I guess it's come back full circle. So turn out the ligts save for one, find a comfortable chair and enjoy the book pay no attention to the slight burning sensation in you stomach...tell yourself that it's just heartburn and not an ALIEN growing inside you.

If you are interested in the Alien franchise, then read the novel. It's a bit different than the movie; leaving things out, adding things in. The novel gets into Jones the cat's head, which is funny. The alien is barely described, however. We get to see the crew interact and understand their motives. There is a lot of time spent on this and does slow things down, but as an Alien fan, I found this book a good read nonetheless.
