About this product

Product Information

Mobile Suit Gundam follows the exploits of Amuro Ray and his friends and colleagues aboard the White Base, a flying fortress that serves as their home, as they engage in various missions against the Principality of Zeon. Half a century has passed since the world's population began migrating to massive orbiting space colonies. All is not well, however, as a group of colonies furthest from the planet proclaims itself the Principality of Zeon and declares war on Earth.

Half of the warring factions' populations have been destroyed and there appears to be no end in sight to this war between the Earth Federation and the Principality. An innocent civilian by the name of Amuro Ray is drawn into the conflict, and it's this young man, more specifically, his Gundam, that players control. Based upon the anime, gameplay in Mobile Suit Gundam is reminiscent of Armored Core 2, requiring players to pilot the robot-like Gundam through a number of missions ranging from guerilla attacks on enemy installations to defending a base against an onslaught of invaders.

Before each mission, players can choose to equip their Gundam with various weapons such as a long-range laser rifle and a Beam Saber for melee attacks. The GunTank and GunCannon can be called upon to provide backup in some of the game scenarios. Should the need arise in close-combat, the player can perform various slash attacks with the Beam Saber by pressing a combination of directions and buttons. Animated cut-scenes further the story and provide some insight into the actions and motivations of the many characters.

A Gallery mode contains information and 3D models of the various Mobile Suits encountered in the game as well as in-game cut-scenes and trailers for many of the home videos available in the cartoon series.

Fun little game if you're an original Gundam fan, even better if you've seen the original series because you're living in it throughout the game with clips from the show.
