Product Information

Konami's celebrated crooning series continues its affiliation with television's American Idol in this feature-filled follow-up. Forty classic and contemporary songs from the '70s, '80s, and '90s are featured, with hits made popular by such artists as Fergie, Gladys Knight, Cutting Crew, and Billy Joel. As in previous Karaoke Revolution games, players attempt to match each song's pitch and phrasing using a USB microphone (sold separately). Points are awarded each time a note is hit and held for the proper duration, with bonus multipliers awarded for stringing together successful combos. Up to eight players are supported in various party modes, where teams or individuals challenge each other for top performances.<br><br>After creating a custom singing persona from multiple head, body, clothing, and accessory choices, players will test their vocal skills in venues based on the hit show. While American Idol Encore introduces several new accessories, the biggest surprise is the inclusion of judge Paula Abdul, who was not featured in 2007's game. Adjustable difficulty levels are also available for melody makers of all abilities, and by mastering each challenge setting, players can unlock bonuses such as new characters, tunes, and outfits. Among the featured songs are "Irreplaceable," "Black Hole Sun," "September," "You're Beautiful," "Midnight Train to Georgia," "My Heart Will Go On," and "Unfaithful."

    Fun Game

    LIKE - Build quality of the microphone, judges commentary, scoring system LOVE - Audio quality, diverse collection of songs, graphics with real American Idol stages DISLIKE - Lack of unlockables, repetitiveness of judges comments, lack of online content OVERALL: It's a fun game for all ages that is definitely worth your while. Will you be playing this game in years to come? Probably not. But while these songs are still fresh on your mind, you can sing them and enjoy them with your friends until the next Karaoke Revolution hits shelves.

    A great gift for all ages!! interesting, exciting, fun!

    I love that you can make your character look like you litterally. I love how the songs are judged by the pitch, rythm, and you can adjust to easy, normal, hard, or expert. That gives everyone a chance to feel they are a star! My whole entire family all gathered around and took turns playing it. You only need one mic and controller, but can have a group of four having a tournement just like on tv! Its great to see who gets eliminated! So much fun, and so many options that you can't get boored with it! The only bad thing is there is only 40 songs it comes with. I wish it had more songs but maybe more could be downloaded? I am not sure. Who cares, 40 is alot.

    American Idol for the Wii

    Great game to play with children it is something they will keep you both interested. Game is enjoyable for both adults and children. The game is very easy to use and set up. I have played with adult friends and had a blast. If my 5 year old wants to play I just turn off the judging and he enjoys it. However you do have to turn the judging off or else he gets booed off the stage. The only thing negitive about the game is I with their where more song to choose from.

    American Idol Encore (Wii)

    We just purchased a Wii for our 12 grandchildren (ages 3-14) and they love it. We received the Karaoke American Idol game/sing along disk and book in the mail yesterday, my husband and I took turns singing familiar songs late last night, and this morning we invited some of the kids over for pizza and an American Idol competition for this evening. The kids are excited about coming to our house even more now that we have a Wii. They all love the bowling, golf, tennis and baseball and are excited that this American Idol disk is here now because they love singing. Guess our next purchase will be a guitar so they can try that out too. For "older" folks (not quite, we are just 65) it's funny that we waited so long to get into the electronic games. We even bought a DS this week and 5 "brain ...
