As expected.. Exceptional Yamaha design, quality, and value!
This is another example of Yamaha excellence. Its been my experience that Yamaha products (music instruments, electronics, motorcycles) always provide exceptional design, quality, and affordable value. And the YST-SW215 is another example of that. The performance, level of control, user interface, optimum size, and visual design are all as good or better than the overpriced competition in any product category. Ive never bought a Yamaha product that didnt exceed my expectations. Want some serious bottom in your tunes, this compact monster delivers. Fits perfectly in my PC studio desk and provides the presence of live sound in a room thats 15 x 25 with plenty of headroom. Woundnt hesitate to buy another one.This is another example of Yamaha excellence. Good things do come in small packages.
I was looking for a subwoofer for a small bedroom TV/computer hookup to augment the low frequencies that were lacking from my small wall-mounted speakers (Polk R10s in the front, Polk RT/FXs in the rear). The room is only 12' x 12' & I really didn't need anything large that would blow the windows out. This sub seemed like it would fit the bill. With the crossover set to around 80Hz & the volume set to about 12 o'clock, the sub fills in quite nicely without booming. I like Yamaha audio products. I've been buying their receivers for the past thirty years or so. I have two units currently in operation & just purchased my third from eBay. This is my first speaker purchase & it won't be my last. In fact, I've got my eyes peeled for another one of these little subs. BTW, this is an active sub, ... Good Small Room Performer
This eight inch, ported, downward firing subwoofer is the perfect addition to an audio system in a small room. Mine is paired with two NHT Zero bookshelf speakers powered by a forty-year old Nikko NA-790 integrated amp. In a 13x15 foot bedroom the YST-SW215 does a good job providing the bass register the NHT Zeros lack. I do not recommend using this subwoofer in a larger room.
