The cosmetic product was 4 years past its expiration date. The seller wished for the buyer to take some of the responsibility (cover return shipping) because the seller was not specifically asked if it was expired (which is not typically expected when the seller description states "Brand new"). Ebay stepped in and refunded the cost without the buyer having to pay for return shipping.
