    A film that is exciting, enticing, memorable and familiar.

    This is a holiday favorite since it was produced in 1939. It was shown on TV around 1960 and was such a big hit that it's shown every year around the holidays. The main characters all are searching to improve their lives by getting the most important factor to lead them to a meaningful existence. They have many tasks and obstacles in their way but in the end are successful. That is a familiar tale told many different ways over the ages. Having this in Blu-ray exposes many of the things that were unseen in the old film. For example, it was the first time I ever saw a skeleton head over the inside door of the carnival barker. The clarity produced in this Blu-ray version will make those who have seen it want to see it again and again. It will also add a new audience of first time viewers.

    Single disc version will save you $$, and the feeling of being "taken".

    Save your money, and get the single disc set. The extra disc with MGM documentary has little to with "OZ", and is replayed quite frequently on PBS. Another disc gives you a quite bad, made for TV movie "The Dreamer of Oz". Single disc version has all the meat and potatoes the ever more expensive higher disc count sets have. In my opinion, the multiple disc sets offer little "extra" except filler. As far as the actual movie goes, I have to say nostalgia was my driving force for buying this, and the movie no longer seems as "special" as it did when I was a child. Still a "must" for children. This is not Star Wars, it is a 70 year old movie that Blu-Ray adds little to over DVD versions. Yes, the colors are vibrant, but you can only do so ...

    Thank you!!. What a great gift!

    Bought this for a family member that doesn't have cable and didn't have any copy of oz!!. I have the set on DVD in the giant box with the coffee table book from some years ago. This is a great set and a great value with all the same materials... IN ADDITION TO WHEN THE LION ROARS. This has always been one of MY favorite movies, and I'm happy to share this version with another family member. Not just for the movie, but I have a few box Sets, and for extras this set is far and beyond one of the absolute best !!

    Just Good, not great

    The movie was good; BUT, I was expecting more from the Blu-rau version. Maybe full widescreen(1080) would have been nicer. like the movie trailers that came with it. The detail was better, but you couldn't really enjoy it because it didn't fill up the whole screen (and I have a wide 1080 full HD TV), a 50percent strip across the middle is what you get. The TV ad for this movie gave you more.
