About this product

Product Information

This is the true story of four young boys.  Four lifelong friends.  Intelligent, fun-loving, wise beyond their years, they are inseparable.  Their potential is unlimited, but they are content to live within the closed world of New York City's Hell's Kitchen.  And to play as many pranks as they can on the denizens of the street.  They never get caught.  And they know they never will. Until one disastrous summer afternoon. On that day, what begins as a harmless scheme goes horrible wrong.  And the four find themselves facing a year's imprisonment in the Wilkinson Home for Boys.  The oldest of them is fifteen, the youngest twelve.  What happens to them over the course of that year--brutal beatings, unimaginable humiliation--will change their lives forever. Years later, one has become a lawyer.  One a reporter.  And two have grown up to be murderers, professional hit men.  For all of them, the pain and fear of Wilkinson still rages within.  Only one thing can erase it. Revenge. To exact it, they will twist the legal system.  Commandeer the courtroom for their agenda.  Use the wiles they observed on the streets, the violence they learned at Wilkinson. If they get caught this time, they only have one thing left to lose: their lives. Sleepersis the extraordinary true story of four men who take the law into their own hands.  Brilliantly written, it is a searing portrait of a system gone awry and of the people--some innocent, some not so innocent--who must suffer the consequences.  At the heart ofSleepersis a sensational murder trial that ultimately gives devastating, yet exhilarating, proof of street justice and truly defines the meaning of loyalty and love between friends.  Told with great humor and compassion, even at its most harrowing,Sleepersis an unforgettable reading experience.  It will leave you breathless.

This is an outstanding seller to deal with. Fair prices that are more than reasonable in this economy. The product is in better condition than described, a true value for my money. Packaged and shipped well shows seller has concern for the products he sells to arrive in excellent condition. The seller is friendly and communicates timely with his customers. I highly recommend this seller and would do business again anytime. Thank you.

Item is complete and 100% as described. Shipping was reasonable and item packaged well and arrived 100% intact though-out the shipping process. I would purchase from this seller again! Note: My 3 star rating for seller communications is due to the fact the seller and I did not communicate outside the simple transaction. I am sure that the seller would communicate well if the need existed. The "3 Star" rating on communication in no way applies to the seller. It represents a "Null" value.

Good Ole Decluttr Store. I've been buying from them for many years. They have 100% feedback with me (lesser feedback on eBay probably due to whiny complainers under age 40 - getalife.com). Items always well priced, exactly as described, well packed, shipped promptly with FREE Shipping. Never once have I given <100% grade. Will continue to fill my music library with Decluttr Stores help! A+, Excellent eBay store!

  • A Great Novel!

Once you start reading this wonderful novel, you simply will not be able to put it down! I just finished Street Boys by this author and I believe this one is even better, if that is possible.

  • "Sleepers"

I had seen the movie, and was very interested in reading the full accounting by Carcaterra, one of the 4 boys caught in the juvenile detention system of the 60's , "Sleepers" held my interest from cover to cover, and was emotionally charged and horrifying at the same time. Loyalty, justice, and revenge, are the 3 sections in the book. Brutal and unflinching, the details in this book are so vivid, that the reader will feel that they are there, watching everything unfold, yet powerless to stop it.

  • I'm glad I read it.

    It was very moving.

  • Haunting Story

Much of this book is true, and the edgy way revenge was enacted is so suspenseful, putting the book down is not an option. Justice was served on the perpetrators that victimized these kids, and it feels very rewarding.
