About this product

Product Information

This first full sequel to the first release from Brian Reynolds and Big Huge Games moves the action from a realistic, historical setting to one of myth and fantasy -- although not the well-worn Tolkien-esque style of fantasy familiar to most gamers. The three nations that rise in this RTS are not found in any particular ancient text, but are defined by details culled from various legends told around the world. The Vinci, for example, is an industrial, "steampunk"-styled faction, conceived from the drawings of Leonardo da Vinci, while the desert-dwelling Alim people, inspired by the stories of 1,001 Arabian Nights, rely on spirituality and sorcery for their power, and the Cuotl race blends Maya sensibility with extraterrestrial equipment. Ongoing struggles between technology and magic underlie the game's story.

Gameplay in Rise of Legends should be familiar to veterans of Rise of Nations, although enhancements and additions have been made. The single-player campaign puts gamers in the role of a young, unsuspecting Vinci inventor, who has leadership suddenly thrust upon him and must lead his people to protect their land and overcome their rivals. The "Conquer the World" mode features a turn-based strategy overview that determines where individual real-time battles are fought, not unlike the system in Creative Assembly's Total War games. The original Rise of Nations is also known for its accessible, engaging, fast-playing multiplayer modes, and Rise of Legends is designed to continue this feature by offering epic, fantastical wars that can be won and lost over a lunch break.

  • MY personal experience. detailed descriptions inside !

this is a strategy game. unlike many other games. this game has it own uniquie resource gathering. and supply depot ( population use ). town center upgrades. unit barracks. it is a very interest game i could say. but there are also something bad about. the cartoony look of the units and buildings. the slow resource gathering. i could still remember the first time i played this game. the resources are separated into 2. mines and glory ( or you could call it cash or whatever you want. i don't know what it is called ) . you could use 6 miners on each mines. and for glory. they are gained by beetles. beetles will constantly fly to your castle and get you glory. the more you will the faster you will get. but each level of town center have different units, beetles, upgrade limits. upgrade ...

  • RONRAL(rise of nations: rise of legends)

It is a very good strategy game, however it is not nearly as complex as the rise of nations that i know and love(thrones and patriots). it still has every aspect of a great rts, Big Huge games makes some of the best real time strategy games that I have ever played. It was just disappointing how there was only three different nations, and the fact that you cant just build a city wherever you want to gets a little annoying. All in all a great game, definitely worth the $15 I payed for it.

  • Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends

This is a great real-time strategy game - definitely underrated. Solid gameplay and very imaginative style - think Leonardo DaVinci meets Aladdin meets Chariots of the Gods. Improved UI and battle controls over the original Rise of Nations, but could have used more Conquer-the-World randomness and replayability that was the shining point of RoN. Definitely a must-have for any RTS fan.

  • Great Stategy Game

The game worked amazingly. It was different than most other strategy games that I played, especially the aspects of having districts to raise population, building increase speed and maximum resource gathering rate. The heroes were all very unique and the non-flying ones had the option of trample...which is where they can walk into other units and hurt them. The downsides would be there are only three races, and that it's hard to find an online game to play with someone. I don't see the game remaining popular for very long as Counter-Strike and Warcraft III: Frozen Throne are, so finding online members will be hard after the original excitement of it wears off. I loved the game and have played it mulitple times. I recommend it to any strategy game lover.

  • Great Multiplayer Roleplaying Game

This role playing game with multiplayer capability has great graphics. I love playing this game in the multiplayer aspect over a local network. The main problem with the game is that the connection is often lost between us, which is rarely occurs when we play other multiplayer games. In multiplayer mode you can win dominance over different things such as army by having big army first. The dominances give you spells that help you. You can capture neutral cities and make them bigger. The most important part of the multiplayer strategy is keeping up your tinomium levels, so you can afford to build more building, research labs, and recruit more troops.
