    Good for Preppers

    Too many features for me to use but it would be great for some. I purchased it to add to my Prepper Kit. If another 'cane comes through Florida again the destruction may not leave any roads to use, and this unit is not limited to just roadways. At least I could find the remains of my house... .

    Great device when complemented with the "basecamp" computer software.

    I bought this to take with me off-roading. Its rugged, fits in my pocket, tracks my trips and then by cable they can be downloaded onto my computer and stored. The free download program "basecamp" available from Garmin.com gives you the capability of reviewing past trips, or planning routes for future trips on a computer and then transfer them to the eTrex. I love the way it "pings" to you if you're following a route and you know you're still on track. I wish instead it would let you know when you're off track by a certain distance. Its great...but some drawbacks: In bright sunlight the screen is nearly unreadable unless you tilt it just right or get in the shade. The joystick is great for moving the curser around on the screen, but the screen is a bit too small to use while driving ...

    Great gps without all the bulk of larger units

    Great gps I see several people say bad things because it does not have what they want. Their big mistake was buying without researching the gps. They also leave reviews that are less than good because they could not figure out how to use the gps. This gps is very handy and accurate. It does come with a base map unless other maps are included on a micro sd card. ** So if you buy this knowing it does not come with extra maps and you are disappointed that is on you. The screen is normal size and back lighting is easy to adjust.

    Great GPS

    I’m a surveyor and use my etrex30 at work, it does everything I need and more. In my opinion the etrex30 is the best bang for the buck. GLONASS, electronic compass, micro SD, color screen, small size and durable.
