Will's M1400 Silk & Steel Acoustic Guitar Strings
I purchased these Martin M1400 Silk & Steel strings, on the advice of a friend, who also plays guitar and bass. He said that they are the best sounding strings out there, although they wear out quick. At the time I got them, I'd purchased an Ovation Deluxe Celebrity, though I've not tried them yet, because of a damaged guitar neck [ which later, I'll fix ]. Right now, I'm considering purchasing a Martin Backpacker, or possibly a Little Martin, where I may apply the strings. Later, I'll probably build a Martin D41, and try them there too. Of course, I'll have to order more, but want to try the one set first. These are light or extra light. Incidentally I purchased about 6 string sets to try out, although the Martin Silk & Steel's are the best. Since I've played acoustics for many years, ... A low action, good frets and a bone bridge with light's or extra light's are my preference. I tend to "bend" the strings playing rock, but also play popular and classical. These Martin's come from Musiciansfriends, who shipped them very quickly [ beat all the other strings ], well packaged and on sale [ I've bought from Musicianfriends before].

I bought these to try them out and I must say in my honest opinion, amazing! They have less tension than your standard strings so they play like butter. Feel great to the touch. The strings sound great for recording. Not too much finger noise and the treble side of the strings are very well rounded and give my guitar a good sound just how I like it. I use them on my Taylor 314 acoustic electric. And I fell in love with these strings! Try them out.I bought these to try them out and I must say in my honest opinion, amazing! Very nice and mellow
Softer than steel strings, easier on fingers and frets yet produce a rich, deep sound. If you get the light strings, you may need to readjust the neck as they put less tension on the guitar neck. Steel strings pull the neck up giving more fret clearance, silk does not pull the neck up as much. Mine are on a Martin X Special series Guitar.
