Does what it says - I'd buy it again
I bought this to replace an old receiver I'd purchased 15 years earlier. I was mainly looking for 5.1 channels and an ipod dock, which this receiver offers. For the ipod aspect I bought the YDS-10 dock, which allows me to use the receiver remote to control the ipod...which works really well. I also purchased HKTS 15 5.1 speaker system from Harmon Kardon, which was a huge step up from my previous bookshelf speaker setup. All in all, I'm very happy with this receiver - it does what it promises. I haven't used all of the features yet (like the auto speaker volume setup based on distance from listener), but so far everything I have tried works well. Yamaha HTR 6040 Great Receiver
This is a great budget receiver. Setup is easy with the included microphone and Yamaha system. They receiver will auto set and detect each speaker. The sound is plenty loud for my room, and the reciever is driving 15yr old book shelf speakers. I added a new sub woofer and now the sound is amazing. The only thing this reciever does not have is HDMI connections. The reciever has many sound settings from Nighttime to 5ch Stero. Check out the manual on line before purchase to get an idea of all the features this unit has. If you are on a budget this is a great reciever for you surround sound theater, and you can't go wrong with Yamaha.This is a great budget receiver. I did the research. Looked for best prices. Ebay has great deals! This product has outperformed even my very highest expectations! You cannot go wrong with this model. Its ability to setup your sound field automatically by listening to the acoustics of your room is incredible. I purchased some great quality in wall surround sound speakers and this receiver made them come alive!!! Specifically the response on 100 watt to 150 watt 8 Ohm speakers is excellent, if this falls into the category of the speakers you own, feel confident in knowing you are getting an excellent product! Also the built-in adjustable subwoofer crossover, provides wonderful bass response in both music and action packed movie experiences. After experiencing Yamaha's HTR-6040,other recievers have left me wondering. I ... I did the research. Looked for best prices. Ebay has great deals! This product has outperformed even my very highest expectations! You cannot go wrong with this model. Excellent receiver.Well built and elegant look. I have had it for 6 years and not a single issue.Produces clear, rich, subtle yet very comfortable and natural sounds. I recently upgraded my speakers to Polk Audio Rti 9 and wanted more powerful unit.Brought home Pioneer 1228($700) receiver and even after tweaking, this one won't produce the same clear distinctive sound as Yamahas.Yamaha is addictive...Excellent receiver.Well built and elegant look. I have had it for 6 years and not a single issue.Produces clear, rich, subtle yet very comfortable and natural sounds. I love this unit. This unit has inputs for your DVD, VCR, TV, Game System, etc. I also like the fact that it has component, s-video and optical inputs. This unit has great sound and works exceptionally well with my current speakers. This unit also has a great price.
