got this hopeful it would fit my bess. but no way. I'd got one from Dixie gun works in 1976. they I beleive were made in Japan. lot smaller barrel diameter. I improvised by soldering in two inserts in the socket to take up the difference. it fit great now ,like the construction of the bayonet, so its off to lexington and Concord
