The "Journey to the Wild Divine: The Passage" is not a video game in the sense that there is a defined goal or adversary. Rather it is journey where the traveler learns to control their emotions by controlling themselves. Learning body control is accomplished through bio-feedback. Sensors placed on the ends of the players fingers are read by the game which in turn control some of the events on the screen. The artwork is nice, the control interface (sensors) are easy to use and the overall effect is very calming. It is designed as a meditation tool, so the sounds and images are very new-age-y. It is a challenging as you wish to make it (none of the bio-feedback elements have to be passed in order to proceed). We purchased this for our youngest child (age 5) for him to develop tools to help him recenter himself when he feels stressed or out of control. It is too early to tell if this helps, but he does find the experience engaging and the interface easy to use. A few notes: If buying used, make sure that the activation code is included. I tried installing it on a 64-bit Windows 7 Professional computer and it did not work very well (not at all to be honest), even in Windows XP compatibility mode. So either use an XP machine (it installed easily on a tiny XP Home netbook) or run it in an Win XP virtual session on Windows 7 (did not try that so no idea if that will work). It is pricey, new or used, but I believe worth it if it accomplishes with our son what we hope it will.Read full review
I liked journey to wild divine as an experiment, and as entertainment, but not for biofeedback. Wild divine is not truly biofeedback because it does not provide feedback. It is true that there are sensors that measure two biological factors, skin conductivity and heart rate. Note that this does not include any kind of brainwave monitoring. From these two factors, though, they can derive other functions, such as heart rate variability, which actually may reflect some degree of emotional state. (This is hard to prove, though, because I have a great HRV when playing violent video games, an act which should theoretically destroy any peaceful vibes.) However, the game tends to mask what is going on by covering it with a layer of mystical jargon. Because you never really know what you are trying to control, and what affects it, this does not qualify as feedback. If, however, you get the grapher expansion pack, then it does qualify, because the grepher pretty much tells it like it is. The game does teach you some good breathing techniques, which are extremely valuable to me, as they help me fall asleep far better than pills. Overall, the game would have been much more useful, though, if they had just been honest and told you what was going on instead of being mystical about it. That being said, I enjoyed the program, and thought the sequel, wisdom quest was even better. Wisdom quest was better, in my opinion, because it uses the biofeedback aspect as a part of the control, but not the sole method. I could really see video games being improved by adding similar controls. About the worst thing about this set up is the interface, known as the light stone. You have to wear it on three fingers, which is pretty lame. If you move your fingers you can get bad results. So can not moving your fingers. Even people with good circulation will have to take the sensors off and get their hands back to normal before attempting any of the games you encounter. People with bad circulation will fare far worse. They say to keep your hands warm, put a towel over it, etc, but if you get stuck on a challenge, you have to take off the sensors and shake out your hand, guaranteed. For this reason, I would wait to buy this game until they come out with a headband, which they should have done from the beginning.Read full review
I had no problems installing this product on Windows 98 w/ Service Pack 3. The game is very innovative and has some very entertaining game sequences. This game was my introduction to biofeedback technology and proved to me the possibilities of altering my heartrate and mood at will. I did find some parts of the game somewhat difficult, as there was some difficulty figuring out what exactly I was supposed to do to my mood to get past certain obstacles. Sometimes if I had too much coffee or was stressed out, I could get no where in the game, because my heart was racing or my conductivity reading was off the chart. I would recommend this game to people interested in Biofeedback technology or meditation. The Wild Divine Project is a leader in developing Biofeedback technology, and for the price, you will be hard pressed to find a more engaging product.Read full review
This product was rated as in "Very Good" condition. When I received this product the main cord sheathing connecting the sensors to the TouchStone was split in two places. In addition, when opened the box I noted that the main cord already had two places repaired with tape. Further, the USB cord supplied with the unit was short bifurcated cord designed for an external hard drive not not this TouchStone unit which a 4/5ft USB cable. (I have another TouchStone unit which I have owned for five years.) All the problems are solvable and the unit works fine. However, I am disappointed in rating of this product. In my opinion it was misleading. Thank you a A

I have had the hardware and software package for a few months now. If you are willing to give it a try and, perhaps suspend any disbelief, you may also reap the benefits I have. I suffer from debilitating anxiety. It can prevent me from doing many ordinary daily routines. As I have used the programs, I have found a new attitude and many, many fewer anxious moments. It helps me to focus on the present and to change my attitude about circumstances I cannot change. I have found it to be incredibly helpful, enjoyable and calming. I do have to agree about the customer service. I wrote to Wild Divine, three times, about the Deepak Chopra DVD not working. They chose to ignore me and I finally gave up. It is not an integral part of the program, however. I highly recommend this (as well as the additional programs) to anyone having difficulty coping with the trials of our modern, hectic lives.Read full review
