The Sega Genesis 32x was released by Sega in 1995. It was a commercial failure, but ended up getting some pretty decent games. It had Doom, Virtua Fighter, Metal Head, Virtua Racing, and Knuckles Chaotix. The system is plopped on the Genesis, but is very easy to use. This is a fun system for a person who wants to take their Sega Experience to the next level!
Great console for some games. Offers the best versions of Space Harrier, Virtua Fighter, Afterburner II, Virtua Racer Deluxe, Mortal Kombat II and some CD enhanced games with better video(MK2 is only slightly better than the genesis version). Games like Sonic Chaotix may make the system a must-have for Genesis fanatics. Beware of items that don't include the video adapters (two cables) and if you have a version 2 genesis you will need the spacer plate. The complete version also includes some electro magnetic shield plates that fit into the genesis cartridge slot which do help to make the 32x actually work. You will need to deal with two ac adapter plugins. You can play genesis games through the 32X cartridge slot which is nice. Buy a new or new-refurbished version if you can to avoid compatibility issues. The 32x is a failed console but offers some incredible gaming for the day. Only about 30 cartridge based and about five CD games were released for the console. For serious Sega gamers only. Check out the games on an emulator first if curious.Read full review
This was a system that always got away from me since I was a kid, I always wanted it now I have it over 20 years later but never the less I finally got it. Since having it, I was very happy with this product, a lot of people give it a bad review because of all the add-ons but I never minded when they added new features and enhanced resolutions and better color and sound. Maybe it might be the Sega fan in me but i'm having fun with it and i'm very happy to final have it.

What's to say? You ether like the 32X or you don't. I love it because I had one as a kid and missed the hell out of it. There were games I wanted to play that I did as a kid but couldn't because I didn't have a 32X. Now that I do, I can relive all those memories. The 32X is more for nostalgia or completion of a collection. For me it was both. If you love the Sega brand, I strongly suggest getting one for yourself. Just be forewarned, it DOES take it's own 9v ac adapter. The same kind of ac adapter that's used for the Sega Gen model 2. Also, if you have a model 1 Genesis, (the one with the volume slider) you will need a model 1 Sega Gen adapter cable. The same with the model 2 Sega Gen, model 2 adapter cable is needed. It is NOT compatible with the Genesis model 3. But if you can track down all the right connecters, it really is worth picking up.Read full review
look enough with the slaming of this awesome lil machine i owned it back in 95 when new and loved almost every game for it except cosmic carnage only cause it was rushed it did have good graffics but lacked speed and mutli combos and killer moves. still more fun then atari jaguars kasumi ninja. also another must own cart based system. long live jaguar. back too sega 32x plain and simple people name another system that for the most part had the very best arcade ports of its day and great third party games hum kolibri, blackthorne, pitfall best cart version hands down even best the jaguar, nba TE, tempo, darxide which i own!! uk real version, mortal 2,and howabout in house games virtua raceing ,virtua fighter, go away saturn yr copies sucked badly of both these, world series baseball 95, t-mek,and others wwf arcade primal rage, metal head and so on really how many systems can brag that really only one of there total of 36 to 38 carts made was a dud. now jag had a ton of stinkers i own all the games on it and about 10 do really kinda blow it only had 68 during existence and after homebrew about 112 total .it also is an awesome system and the king of stinkers ready for it drum roll please n64 come on sound sucked and control was just weird but worked but man talk about shelf wear games anything not EA OR NINTENDO IN HOUSE BLEW SO THATS ABOUT 200 STINKERS. Doom looks just like the pc version of the 90s. I'm not sure it's an upgrade above the genesis but building the sega tower of power is priceless.

I actually love this system but it gets a bad rap because it also uses the Sega CD with a select few games, plus it has a very few selection of games because in America it came weeks before the Sega Saturn and about 1 year before japan. I only have Star Wars for which without a 6-button controller you can play this game but not others and without it and I can't access the menu which is a problem for this attachment because the system it's attached to always comes standard with at least 1 3-button controller plus right now the system doesn't really cost much for what it's worth and it's a rarity but the games cost a whole lot.
Everything pretty much work except for the cable the connected the Genesis to the 32x for the model 2. The Genesis was not shutting off once I got an original cable it works fine but the cables for the model 1 work just fine

If your into collecting Sega this is a fun addition to any collection and personally I think a must have. The mound of cables needed though can make this a little cumbersome and even more so if your using this with your Genesis already connected to the Sega CD. It will transform your Genesis system into a mega beast of a system with wires and cables coming from every direction, but with that said I believe it makes it all that much more fun to play with.
The best yet worst device ever made. Poor game library and small improvement in graphics make for a bulky addon that looks so damn good and bad. It's the red headed step son of gaming.
