The Bookman's Title
I decided to buy "The Bookman's Wake," because I had just finished "Booked To Die." John Dunning's first book was so wonderful, exciting and to a book person, very interesting. I love the way a thrilling mystery is tied into books. What more could a bookie like myself want? I love the ex-Denver cop being a bookman selling rare books. What a combination. These Cliff Janeway series keep you waiting for the next book. It is so refreshing to read about this ex-cop turned book seller, after all of the tiring women in forensics and all of that same STUFF! This book really takes you for a ride - getting entangled with an Edgar Allen Poe book and a young woman who is wanted for burglary and assault. It seems she may be the one involved with stealing the rare 1969 edition of Edgar Allan ... I decided to buy "The Bookman's Wake," because I had just finished "Booked To Die." Cliff Janeway finds himself flying from Denver to Seattle to try and arrest, or at least find this woman, who may or may not have this rare book. From there we find out about an old, small Grayson Press, located in Northbend, Washington. This Press is supposed to have printed a 1969 edition of "The Raven." Anyway this leads Cliff Janeway on a merry chase, one that could end up with death, or who knows? The Janeway character has been developed so well by Dunning as to make you believe he really exists and is someone you want to know. I cannot say that I dislike a thing about this book. It is fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a classy first-rate Mystery. It really can't be beat..
