    SCSI hard disc drives remain high end designs, newer ones spinning at 10-15000 RPM, vs the 5400-7200 RPM for most IDE and SATA drives. SCCI hard drives are used in Apple, SGI,SUN and servers that are usually more expensive new than their IDE/SATA counterparts. They could read and write faster than other drives of their vintage and like other SCSI devices, can be daisy-chained. This older Seagate ST19171N is a 7200 RPM, 8 bit narrow SCSI model with 50 pin connector. There are multiple SCSI standards and when buying, one must pay attention to the connector type, as a SCSI drive with a particular model designation might come in 50, 68, and 80 pin variants. The newer SATA drives read and write through a wider interface, and this older drive would now be considered obsolete by most. But those ...
