There's an unexpectedly fine role for Polly Pry, attempting to salvage Alferd. It did have the trademark gross moments we expect from creators of South Park. I have to admit that I loved the musical numbers and sending unhappy campers to "time-out."

Written and directed by the brilliant Trey Parker, this movie was allegedly released under the alternate title, "Alferd Packer! The Musical". Loosely based on the true story of Alferd Packer's adventures in cannibalism, this film features everything that is great about Trey Parker's unique brand of humor. Matt Stone carries a larger role in this movie than he did in "Orgazmo," but not as prominent a role as he played in BASEketball. Familiar performers from Orgazmo and BASEketball are also cast in this entertaining jaunt through the mountains of Utah and Colorado in search of Breckenridge (or a horse, depending on which member of the party you're asking). The music is excellent, well-suited to the theme, well-placed within the film, and will seem oddly familiar to fans of South Park. For sheer entertainment value, this movie is a "ten". Fans of Trey Parker & Matt Stone will be delighted with this story, and consider it among their most prized pieces of Parker/Stone memorabilia. Obligatory note to those who have major crushes on Trey ... you will absolutely LOVE him in this movie. Lots and lots of close-ups. :)Read full review
This DVD convinced me that subliminal advertising really does exist. The first time I watched it, I thought it was boring and not very funny. The pace was draggy, and the humor wasn't as outrageous as I am accustomed to from South Park. I was going to re-sell it, but somehow I was compelled to watch it again. After the second viewing, I couldn't get the songs out of my head, and I fell madly in love with Trey Parker. I have heard the identical comments from others. Coincidence? I don't think so! Although this is a parody of the Alfred Packer story, the plot sticks pretty close to the truth. It also works as a straight musical comedy. Although a musical involving cannibalism may appear, by definition, to be in poor taste, the same could be said about Sweeney Todd, or The Rocky Horror Picture Show. There is some sexual innuendo, a few cusswords (not nearly as many as a typical South Park episode), and two bloody scenes, one at the very beginning and one near the end. Most viewers will find these scenes more amusing than frightening. Give this movie a try, and if you don't like it, watch it again.Read full review

Hilarious, absolutely hilarious. If you don't have a sense of humor don't bother..... However if you love South Park, as I do, you may find yourself watching this movie 2 or 3 times a day for the first month after you've purchased it. I am not a fan of musicals what-so-ever........ Yet when I watch CANNIBAL THE MUSICAL I forget it's a musical and I go to work with all the songs stuck I my head, and I catch myself singing ..... IT'S GOING TO BE A SHPADOINKLE DAY !!!! Also there is a lot more content and a little less singing than you would expect based on the title. This is, as of now, my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE MOVIE !! !! !!
