About this product

Product Information

When five high school students from different social groups are forced to spend a Saturday together in detention, they find themselves interacting with and understanding each other for the first time. A jock (Emilio Estevez), a criminal (Judd Nelson), a princess (Molly Ringwald), a basket case (Ally Sheedy), and a brain (Anthony Michael Hall) talk about everything from parental tension to sex to peer pressure to hurtful stereotypes while serving time. Ultimately, the five find that they may have more in common than they ever imagined and learn more about themselves as well as each other. The only question is, Will they remember what they've learned after they leave detention? Director and writer John Hughes, along with the stellar Brat Pack, cast makes this a memorable, moving film filled with believable dialogue, intelligent humor, and a sufficient dose of high school hijinx. Its timeless appeal makes this film a teen classic along with Hughes's other teen films from the 1980s: SIXTEEN CANDLES and FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF. A great soundtrack features the hit "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds.

    Fun, educational detention!

Fun, interesting story. A good example, showing that each person has personal strengths and talents that can benefit everyone.

  • Love love love!!!!

Breakfast Club is an amazing movie and I've always put off buying it, but as soon as I saw it for this deal (along with a discount for buying 2 DVDs) I couldn't pass it up.

  • High School in the Eighties, perhaps comparable today

This movie was just like my middle school back in the late eighties to a tee. I loved the fact that someone actually got it right, because this was the pop culture in the eighties and early nineties. I think the popularity of the movie widely exists because of the clothing trends and the adolescent behavior, that anyone can relate to have known at some point in his or her life. Every class usually has a trouble maker, a jock, a princess, a bi-polar person or at very least a geek. Sticking all these different personalities in one room made it impossible for these teenagers to not see that they had more in common than they originally could have ever imagined. Everyone should see this movie at least once.

  • The Breakfast Club

The epitome of a 80's teen flik (amongst others)! If you haven't seen it, it's worth a look. A tribute to the 'me generation'. The acting is as well as can be expected from a group of young (& up and coming at that time) actors & actresses. The story depicts a group of high school kids that get a Saturday detention and, learn abit about themselves as well as each other with an oppressive (& anal) teacher overseeing them. You may call it a 'coming of age' for these kids. But, the flik is peasantly amusing (it's become a cult too) with just a touch of seriousness. Typical (& cool) 80's soundtrack. Can't beat Simple Minds 'Don't you forget about me'. And finally, if you didn't live thru the 80's (I was a senior in HS when this flik debuted), it's a flik that I'm sure you can identify with. ...
