About this product

Product Information

The Sigma DG Aspherical Macro is a 24 mm - 70 mm f/2.8 lens that quickly switches to manual mode to suit a user's preferences. A f/2.8 aperture and 24 mm-70 mm focal length lend welcome adaptability in all shooting environments. The fact that the aperture stays constant during operation of this Sigma camera lens gives faster, sharper exposures, particularly when capturing subjects indoors. Furthermore, an optional lens hood on this Sigma camera lens works to reduce extraneous light in outdoor environments, further boosting the contrast of colors, along with overall clarity. The multi-coated exterior of the Sigma DG Aspherical Macro quickly contributes color correction and meets the needs of professional photographers with ease. Additionally, the macro effects of this 24 mm - 70 mm f/2.8 lens produce impeccable sharpness when focusing on objects at close range such as flowers or pets. Users who pair the Sigma DG Aspherical Macro with their Canon or Nikon cameras benefit from fine, accurate representation of both still and moving subjects.

After 5 days of no response from the seller with a simple complaint I guess I'll leave my full experience and review. First off, The dials lume wasn't blue as depicted in the picture. Nor is the face of the dials texture metallic whatsoever the dial is printed. The date window doesn't line up with ANY ETA-2824 that I own (which is several) after closer inspection the dial hand holes are also out of concentric with the movement. buyers beware of the quality that is pictured.

    Rivals Nikon in quality image!

I was very apprehensive, when I purchased this lens. I shoot with a Nikon D600 and a D7100 and have always tried to stick with Nikon glass. I really needed a pro-quality 24-70 2.8 autofocus lens, but I simply could not afford to plunk down $1200+. I picked up the Sigma 24-70 2.8 DG EX lens, used on ebay for about $500.00. I could not be more pleased. The autofocus is quick and, surprisingly quiet, as it does not have the HSM feature. The lens is tack sharp from f 4.5 through f22. It may be a tad soft at 2.8, at the center, but when I'm shooting wide open, I'm doing portraits and a soft focus look is exactly what I am shooting for! Color rendition is excellent and contrast has a lot of snap. This lens is almost always on my D600, now. The zoom is firm, but there is no slippage, ...

  • One Major Flaw with the 24-70 f/2.8 HSM

To begin with I think the optics/sharpness of the Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 HSM lens matches or exceeds the Canon equivalent. The only reason I can not give this amazing lens an EX+ rating is the annoying fact that when you shoot directly down and over an object or subject the combined weight of the tele housing and lens elements cause the lens to drift forward and out of the selected mm. zone, if on manual focus it will consequently drift out of focus. At the 24mm or 70mm position it fits snug, however when you move into the 40-60 zone the problem becomes instantly apparent.I have since learned that most if not all of the Sigmas 24-70 f/2.8 HSMs have this design flaw.It is not simply a matter of servicing. If you buy one new this may not be a problem at first, but it just a matter of time.Personally I ...

  • Highly Recommended, For the Most Part

Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 I would personally recommend this lens to almost anyone, with one exception being someone that shoots in very quiet environments as the focusing motor is quite loud. It is mildly annoying, but the shutter sound on the Canon 20d is quite loud as well and anything that is able to be shot with that sound is well able to be shot with this lens. Pros: f2.8 Very sturdy build, certainly lives up to the 'professional' EX line's name. Very easy to switch to manual focus. Colors are excellent, at least in the specific lens that I have. Comes with hood and case, which even $2k Canon 24-70L does not provide without additional purchases. Cons: Loud focus Sometimes searches for focus on plain objects for quite some time (up to 2 seconds sometimes) Heavy, however it is a sacrifice ...

  • A Top Macro Macro Lens!

The Sigma 70mm f2.8 DG EX macro is among the best 4 best macro lenses in the world: Canon 100mm f2.8L IS, Nikon 105mm f2.8 VR Micro and probably the sharpest one Sigma 150 f2.8 DG EX macro. Sigma 70mm f2.8 EX DG (special color corrected multi-coating and designed for any format APS or full-frame sensors) is absolutely sharp with great "bokeh" for macro shots and also portraits (sometimes too sharp for portraits). It fits very well in the APS cameras as a 100 or 112mm macro for that perfect distance in flowers & insects shots or as a super fast portrait lens. Fitted in a full-frame you'll get a great all purpose macro, landscape, portrait lens. I have had them all and I kept the 70mm and 150mm Sigmas. Since them I'm always ready for any kind of product, portrait and macro shooting. I'm a ...

  • Wouldn't buy this particular lens again. Nothing against Sigma

I bought this lens to use on my Nikon D300s for sport photography. I wanted a lens that I could use to shoot in low light situations. Although this lens gave me the ability to shoot in low light, it's sharpness is questionable at best. Even in sunshine with a fast focusing camera, every picture came out soft. NOT blurry, but soft. I also have a 55-200mm Nikon "kit" lens and it's sharpness and focus are miles ahead of this lens. Maybe it was just a poor choice for my particular camera, but it's really not useful to me at all since I shoot mostly action shots.
