To start off, the pros of the game: The game has very nice visuals and physics satisfactory to many players. Weapons and upgrades are easy to swap out, and the game tries it's best to help the player strategize; The rest is up to the player. The cut-scenes don't have very much video appeal to them, they're often just still frames, but they give insight to the game or can just as easily be skipped through. The gameplay itself plays a lot like a game of Chess, in that it's a turn based game set on the speed and agility of the units themselves. Faster units move first, slower move later. With the use of the game's "Scan Gauge", players can maximize damage to an opponent by using multiple ally units to "support" another ally's attack, allowing several zoids to attack during the turn of just one zoid. The same can be repeated for each of the zoids during the overall turn of the match. It's a bit slower paced than many may expect, but it's definitely not a down side. It's a very tactical game, and really tests a player's skills. The cons to "Zoids Assault" aren't significant, but if one doesn't expect them, it can downgrade the experience. First, there is no difficulty setting, and the game is set rather hard. A player will sometimes find him/herself outnumbered by enemies with bigger guns. During gameplay, while the visuals are impressive, the wild camera angles and thick "fog of war", as some games call it, make it difficult to watch the beautiful firefights in their full scope. The game's music and audio FX are very short in numbers, and become noticeably repetitive. Overall, I would put this game up in my top 10. Its tactics and visuals make for a very fun game, and it does not cease to pass time in a very nice manner.Read full review
I think the game is really fun how you actually have to strategize with all of it the little features of support and counters but they don't really have many zoid options you only get 5 and I don't think you get anything else. It could be way better if you could make your own squad of zoids and by new ones and weapons for them (kind of like Ace Combat) other then that i wouldn't say its completely lame it is still really fun.
I am a Zoid's Fan, so I just had to buy this game, My expectations were too high...meaning I expected more out of the game like better graphics and online play, but if you look at the game as a whole and view all of the things it has a one, its a really great game, all though it is turned based which is another downside, but also its a good strategy game, because with out a good strategy you will not get far in this game. As a Zoid’s Fan I wish they would bring back the series in a few new xbox 360 games with online play and what not.
It's a politically fueled war story set in the world of zoids. The story is interesting, how they tell the story though is done very poorly. The gameplay is horrible. I expected the PS gameplay that the zoid games normally had, except this time they changed their turn base system to try to add an aspect of strategy which it doesn't do. Very linear game, it's worth a try because it is easy xbox game achievements and if your familiar with the zoid franchise then you'll enjoy the story. Also the game is cheap, which is always a plus.
Game is really good box art not original so.I had to spend an extra $20 to find the correct box art.
