    Old school frying pan is the way to go!

    I am so pleased with this pan. It is my second favorite. I have a 10.5 inch old cast iron frying pan that is my favorite, but only because it has been used for decades. Give me 15 to 20 years and this one will be up there too. They only get better with age! This 12 inch pan was shipped already pre-seasoned; however, I washed it in hot soapy water, dried it well and then re-seasoned it myself. Then I put it to the ultimate test, I fried an egg over medium heat without using any oil, butter or bacon grease (gasp!) and it came out perfect! The egg was easy to flip and did not stick at all. When I was done, I just wiped it out with a clean and dry dishcloth and put it away. Anyway, I have used this pan multiple times and with each use, it just gets better and better. You can't beat ...

    Recommended if you're willing to put in a little time on the surface

    The Lodge is a good heavy skillet but has a rougher surface than the ones, say, your mother used which were probably a Griswold or a Wagner. The Lodge sits evenly, doesn't rock, which is great. They are quite heavy which can be both good and bad depending on how you feel about hefting a skillet. The Lodge can be amended to become as smooth as a Griswold or a Wagner, i.e., can become completely non-stick when properly seasoned. How does one effect this change? Grinding the surface which isn't as hard as it sounds. You can get a grinding head for your drill and some increasingly fine sandpaper at Home Depot for this purpose. Once you have your surfaces smooth, you season as you would any other cast iron skillet: with oil, in an oven at low temp, a procedure you undertake a few ...

    Lodge black iron skillets and cookware are the best. We all want that expensive cookware, and it's great, but it scorches and scratches just too easily! And it costs way too much for comfort! Try Lodge black iron skillets, dutch ovens, etc. You can use them without worry--they don't scratch, scorch, or discolor, and you can use your metal utensils without worry. They are non stick-- much less stick than the expensive stuff. You'll have your black iron for a lifetime and you'll use it all the time!!

    Best pan ever.

    I've used it a dozen times already. It keeps getting better. Reasonably priced also. I'll be ordering one for my daughter and sister. It's everything they said and more.     Fantastic old school addition to your kitchen

    I wanted a cast iron pan for my wife remembering all the meals my grandmother cooked in them. I also really wanted an American made pan. I got both with this. It comes pre seasoned, but, I have already cooked bacon with it as well as eggs, and my wife was very impressed at how fast everything cooked, the flavor, and the clean up is suoer easy. It is said that cast iron only gets better the more you cook with it. Very very highly recommended!!!!👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
