    Quieter is Better!

    Having the 8500 openers in my shop, I decided to replace my five year old, noisy Genie openers with these, wifi enabled, 8500W. Got them in and learned that they would not work with my 'torque' style lift systems and therefore had to have 'torsion' (spring type) lifts installed. The torsion have the 1" tube needed to attach to the motor assy. Quotes, for the spring change outs on a 9' and 18' door, were $660 to $1200. Negotiating, I found a tech that would do the change-out and install the openers for less. Wifi seems to work well at this point. I am looking in to adding the wifi to my 8500s.

    Expensive but worth it..

    The liftmaster 8500w was an easy install and very quite/smooth operation. I was able to use existing wiring from my previous genie track opener. I really enjoy the motion detector feature for the ceiling light..

    Easy one-man installation.

    For an application with limited overhead or non-existent structure this opener is the solution. I was an "early adopter" of the torque tube attached Wayne Dalton I-Drive. It has one major fault. When it fails the drive is not accessible because it is behind the partially closed door (You have to open or close a 400 lb door to work on the drive. I installed one on each of my garage doors. The carpenters centered the scuttle hole to the garage attic which left me no ceiling joists to attach a standard opener on one side. The Liftmaster does have some constraints: 8" width, 1-1/2 shaft length, and 2-3/4' distance to the wall. Installation is easy. One dislike of two issues: Door control is not Bluetooth (requires hard wiring), wire for door control is too short (24' at most furnished, should ...

    This type of garage door opener is fantastic! The unit is completely out of the way with no loss of ceiling space above your vehicles and super quiet! Very easy to install, less than 2 hours with basic household tools.

    Excellent product and performance is well worth the cost.

    I absolutely love the garage door openers. I have four of them now. The are very quiet compared to a chain drive. Quite easy to set up after you get through the first one. Although expensive I think they are worth the additional money if you are going to upgrade. Especially if you are going to purchase new as you don't have to set up all the "scaffolding" needed to support a traditional ceiling mounted belt drive or chain drive unit.
