All the other brands are just junk
Based on experience, IF you prefer a meat thermometer that you can keep in the oven without worrying about wires breaking [as every one of maybe 4 digital ones I've tried in years past] or inaccuracy of other brands, this is the only brand to buy. Why? Our 25-30 year old version of this Cooper was still within gauge resolution of 2 k-type thermocouples in a hot water bath at 170F while the other 2 stand alone newer ones, other brands, were reading high by 15 and 22 degrees, respectively. That's when I threw those out and bought 2 of these new Coopers. This company was the first one to market a bimetallic oven meat thermometer in the late 1800s and so far as I can see, the only one worth buying today. Imagine a heavily used instrument this old that's still this accurate. The old one's not ...
