About this product

Product Information

Based on an early manga by Masamume Shirow, also the author of GHOST IN THE SHELL, APPLESEED explores similar themes as Shirow's masterwork while still containing the action sequences audiences expect from his work. APPLESEED also uses 3D animation in a unique manner, combining a traditional cel animated look with fully rendered backgrounds and vehicles. The story concerns Deunan Knute, a woman warrior whisked away from the ruined battleground where she lives and fights to the distant city of Olympus, where mankind seems to have put its destructive past behind it. The utopia of Olympus is maintained by the Bioroids, artificial people whose emotional capabilities are diminished in order to balance the careening passions of regular human beings. But when the leader of the human army threatens the Bioroids, Deunan and her cyborg ex-lover find themselves in the center of a series of plots that threaten both the Bioroids and all of mankind. Shirow's strong science fiction plotting, unique use of computer generated imagery, and music by electronica artists such as Paul Oakenfold and Basement Jaxx all contribute to the Animé film APPLESEED.

    Nonstop action with a easy to follow story line

    This realy deserves 4.5 stars but heck whats 1/2 star when your enjoying whats on the screen. The CG is very good, I concur with saxnashville not as seamless as steam boy. I realy enjoy the cellshading cg, lets be real anime is cellshading. very good storyline excellent backgrounds, very good english voice trax though I prefer it subtitled. which are excelent! And the action is fabulous, IT'S A MUST HAVE FOR ANY ACTION MOVIE FAN! And all you otaku out there this is a must for your anime collection!

    Watch this movie!

    I watched this movie not really expecting much at all and was blown away after just 10 minutes of watching. The blend of traditional CGI and sleek cell shading animation help create some beautiful eye poping sequences. A good story line (which does not require any previous experience with the appleseed universe), great action and awesome soundtrack make this movie a must watch for any anime fan.

    Awesome anime!

    What I like about this movie is the animation is great its just awesome , the story could have been better but it was not that bad! I bought off Ebay because it was so cheap and heard it was good EBAY ROCKS!
