About this product

Product Information

This 2-Disc set contains the full versions of both films.ERIN BROCKOVICH: Julia Roberts reaffirms her superstar status with ERIN BROCKOVICH, an inspirational drama that is based on a true story. Roberts plays Erin Brockovich, a twice-divorced mother of three who is struggling to remain afloat. After she is involved in a car accident, she loses what should have been a lucrative settlement. Jobless and pressured, Erin convinces the attorney from her case, Ed Masry (Albert Finney), to hire her as a lawyer's assistant. She also befriends her neighbor George (Aaron Eckhart), a sexy biker whose dedication to her children appears too good to be true. As Erin settles into her job, she convinces Ed to let her pursue a case that involves the residents of a local community. Apparently, several of the townspeople have become sick with cancer and other diseases. The more that Erin investigates, the more convinced she becomes of the guilt of Pacific Gas & Electric Company, an incredibly powerful corporation. She talks Ed into pursuing the case wholeheartedly, and it is her indomitable spirit that results in the largest settlement ever paid in a direct-action lawsuit in U.S. history ($333 million). Steven Soderbergh shoots BROCKOVICH with a flashy realism that allows Roberts to shine every second she appears onscreen.PRIMARY COLORS: The topsy turvy political process is told through the eyes of one Henry Burton (Lester), an idealistic young man who is seduced into managing the presidential campaign of slick southern governor Jack Stanton. The mesmerized Burton immediately sets up campaign headquarters and meets his new political family: Susan Stanton, Jack's wife and partner; Richard Jemmons, the sly, improbable political strategist who proudly describes himself as a "redneck;" Libby Holden, the fanatically loyal, overtly lesbian campaign trouble-shooter who always has a big mouth and occasionally carries a big gun to match; and Daisy, the young, smart and looking-for-love campaign media advisor. The Stantons and Henry begin their scandal-ridden roller coaster ride to the presidency. Based on the controversial best-selling novel by Joe Klein.

  • Power, lust and demands of those who grab power at the cost of others.

A thinly-veiled Bill & Hillary Clinton-esk story. Follows the seamy side of the male character's (John Travolta) lust for a tryst with just about anyone who crosses his path. And the angry, forceful, female character, who barks out orders and tirades in the beginning, only to fade somewhat as the story progresses. Late in the film is one brief, but powerful scene of the tragic side of the story for those who are completely devoted to the power couple's goals.
