    Quality hatchet.

    I've had several of these axes and they hold up well and last a long time. It's probably one of the best of its kind available -- very tough. This particular one is only 12" long, but I was getting it for my step-daughter for her camping, some light chopping and driving tent stakes. For my use, I've got a larger one by the same company..

    Long lasting

    Everything is great except that the handle’s curvature works against you when using the hatchet head backwards as a hammer to drive in a wedge during logging. It would be lighter with a wooden handle but would not last as long.

    Lifetime tool

    I still have my Dad's Estwing hammer he bought in1955. All you need to do is sand and varnish the handle when the finish wears off. Never break a handle, because there isn't one, it is all drop forged, one piece. Take care of it and it should last at least three generations!

    Quality that can be found only in AMERICAN MADE products

    I own several Estwing hatchets/axes. Let me say that they only cost about $10 to $15 more than the foreign-made stuff - only the quality is about 300 percent better in the Estwing products. Don't waste your money on the Asian-made junk; Estwing is the best.
