About this product

Product Information

One morning in 2198, the city of Arcadia was annihilated within the blink of an eye. An alien object fell from the once friendly skies and destroyed buildings, leaving the inhabitants either seriously wounded or dead. There were survivors, but the city faced even bigger problems: mutinous alien creatures spewed from the wreckage and infiltrated the newly "renovated" city. The government sends in the marines with only one goal: eradicate any and all alien resistance!<br><br>Assume the role of Sgt. Reno J. Washington, the gruff heavy-weapons veteran, or Major Kelly Doyle, a young sniper, to infiltrate Arcadia's city streets, run through the jungles of Zeeva, and destroy the aliens' vessel and hive! However, keep in mind is that the aliens are going to come whether you move or not, so put the hurt on the menace any which way you can. Surrender is not an option!<br><br>Assault: Retribution supplies you with some of the best firepower modern technology can provide, as well as various customization options to ensure "better living through quick death disbursement." Washington utilizes a barrage of destructive weaponry such as the P-420 Multi-Phase Pulse Rifle and the aptly named Cutter; Doyle uses a variety of Homing Missiles, Beam Lasers, and the D-16 Magnetic Bolt Accelerator. There's also a plethora of pickups including weapon upgrades, health, ammunition recharges, smart bombs, extra lives, and shields. Save points within each level let you resume the killing when it is most convenient for you. And (rare as of 1999), there is a two-player cooperative mode in case you feel that one ultimate killing machine just isn't enough.<br><br>Assault: Retribution is a 3D platform shooting game that takes place across seven futuristic levels, includes two playable characters with alternate routes, analog control, and memory card support. You can't spell action, adrenaline or assault with out an "A," so go out and kick a few!

Reached out to seller to confirm it came with digital code. Said it did, which was true. However the code did not work. This is not in any way the seller’s fault, as they would have no way of knowing that ahead of time. I tried the code multiple times and contacting Warner Brothers, but when nothing worked the seller issued a refund for the item not technically being exactly as described. Good communication and I wouldn’t hold this against the seller. Would still buy from again.

  • Wrestling as a bad horror movie:

The problem with WCW Backstage Assault is that it is a wrestling game with a gimmick rather than a wrestling game. Instead of pure wrestling, you are forced to fight backstage with incessant brawling, hoping to magically incapacitate your opponent into a pinfall or knockout. Instead of looking at this game as wrestling game, look at it as a bad horror movie: a bunch of things meant to be wrestling, but instead off humorous situations and/or blunders. Gameplay-Fans of WCW Mayhem will be thrilled that the grapple system is intact. It is very easy to take control once you have learned the basics of movement. Easily the best grapple system of American PSone wrestling. Modes/Replay-The only purpose of replay is to unlock things. There is no coherent story mode, rather a gauntlet and title ...

  • assault retribution preview

Your mission is to destroy the enemy by any means necessary. If you fail, the world as we know it may come to an end. You’ll be fighting through seven intense levels as you try to reach the evil enemy and bring safety to your city. Whether you journey to undiscovered alien worlds or battle at the end of the earth, it’s all here. Have no fear though, as you’ll have a huge array of weapons to choose from: multi-phase pulse rifles, overwhelming shock weapons, and magnetic bolt accelerators, just to name a few. Each weapon will serve its own purpose in destroying the mutant race. If you can’t do it alone, then join up with a friend in the Two-Player Cooperative mode. The Two-Player mode offers more mutants, different routes, and insane challenges behind every door. No matter how you play this ...

  • Good Concept just bad Execution

You can't take anything away from this game, it is really good for WcW but it can't compare to the WWF games at the time because the graphics were kinda bad and in a wrestling game that is hard to get past. The movement is chunky at times but the game itself is something you don't see because it's only in the Backstage areas and I give praise to WcW for doing that. It has all your favorites wrestlers and some awesome nWo & Wolfpac outfits for wrestlers like Sting & Nash and the others of the PAC. The PS version isn't much different than the N64 version. I have both because I'm a WcW / nWo collektor and these are a welcomed piece of it.
