About this product

Product Information

Full of pride, Cassiopeia compares her daughter's beauty to that of Hera. Angered, the queen of the gods has Poseidon unleash the monstrous beast Craken to destroy their village unless Cassiopeia's daughter, Andromeda, is sacrificed. Perseus, the son of Zeus, becomes enchanted with the breathtaking beauty and is determined to save her from this fate. The young hero, armed with a magical shield, a winged stallion and a mechanical owl, discovers the only way to defeat the monster is with the head of Medusa. The gods watch and intervene on Perseus' quest to save his beloved. This was legendary special effects wizard Ray Harryhausen's last film before he retired from creating movie magic. L.A. LAW's Harry Hamlin stars as the Greek mythological hero Perseus who fights snake-haired Medusa and two-headed dogs to save the lovely Andromeda (Judi Bowker). Laurence Olivier, as Zeus, is one of the many screen legends in this adventure. Burgess Meredith, Claire Bloom, Maggie Smith and Ursula Andress round out the cast as the Gods of Mount Olympus.Director Desmond Davis was camera operator on TOM JONES and A TASTE OF HONEY, two influential early 1960s British films. Writer Beverly Cross was one of the writers on 1963's Ray Harryhausen film, JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS.

    An Epic classic.

I remember watching this when it used to be played on TBS. Glad to make it a permanent part of my DVD collection. I really loved the the scenes vs Medusa and the scorpions. A very good cast including Burgess Meredith. A good choice for classic adventure or Greek Mythology fans.

Get ready to clash with the Titans 1981

This film is a lot better than the remake a few years ago. Maybe because good friend Ray Harryhausen worked on the original. He was a great friend & a genius.

  • Remembering the Titans Clash

This film is a real joy to watch; pure imaginative escapicism in the styles of the old Sinbad and Hercules movies from the past. The story centers around Persus, son of Zeus and his many challenges rising from jealous Hera and numerous monsters along the way. Harry Hamlin keeps it grounded as a young niave hero, Burguess Meredith plays the mentor role and we are treated to a calidescope of mythical creatures along the way. We meet the Kraken, Pegasus, oracles, giant scorpions, Medusa and witness Persus rise to one challenge after another thrown at him. It has a love story of sorts for the girls and some duels for the fellas all thrown in for a brisk paced movie. ***Warning to kids the Medusa scene could freak them out a bit, but shouldn't be too bad; Parents should watch for mild ...

  • Clash of the Titans old but still good

I remember this movie from when I was a kid. I used to watch it every time it came on network tv. Something reminded me of it and I had to buy it. However I did not realize that there was nudity in this movie. The mother bares here breasts in the first 12 minutes and her butt right after. Not that it bothered me but made it so my kids could not enjoy something from my youth. They are still young and I do not approve of them seeing such things. So be advised it has t&a but it is still a classic. Special effects are kinda amusing but when you think about how long ago they were made, they are pretty sweet. All in all I am quite pleased. Just wasn't expecting the boobs to pop on the screen when they did. Other than that a must see. I hope the 2010 addition does it justice.

  • bcoffer23 Movie review - Clash of the Titans

This is a fun movie loosely based on Greek Mythology. The gods of Mount Olympus routinely interfere with human affairs due to their whims, grudges with each other and love affairs with human women. In this movie Perseus, played by Harry Hamlin, has to go on a quest to save the life of a princess, who happens to be his future wife. He encounters giant animals, witches, a mechanical golden plated owl, a half man/half demon, Pegasus, a flying horse, Medusa, The Kraken and other challenges.
