    The smart repair for cracked 5VZ-FE cylinder head.

    If you've got the typical 5VZ-FE cracked cylinder head (middle cylinders between the valve seats) this is the quick and easy way to go. Completely assembled, even the valves were preadjusted to correct specs. Beats the hell out of trying to find a replacement used casting and transferring your parts and dealing with resurfacing, machining valves and seats and then adjusting the valves and having to get adjustment pucks to compensate for over/under machining values. Been there, done that. Buy the new head and bolt it on with new head bolts preferably. You'll be glad you did. I certainly was.

    Not just a direct swap.

    Required quite a bit of changing around parts. Exhaustanifolds are different, oil filter access had to be moved and does not include what’s in the picture. Also as of yet haven’t solved why I’m missing on number 2 cylinder. For a cheap engine it’s fine.

    Toyota engine

    Purchased engine for customer back in June. Received engine looked it over pulled oil cap looked good from what could see from there. Put the engine in runs great. Fast forward til now. Customer called stated the valve covers started leaking so he decided to replace them hisself. Customer pulled valve covers find the engine gummed up. It looks like it has over 200k on the engine they claim to have only 65k miles on. Don’t get tricked I’ll be pulling valve covers from now on. I was also told all their engines look like this.

    Engine in good shape, wiring connections destroyed.

    The motor was clean and runs well. However, when it was pulled, rather than disconnect the wiring harness, they just cut all the wires between the motor and the connectors which was an unexpected and totally unnecessary pain in the ass to fix.

    Good motor

    I now have 20k on the JDM motor and it runs good. The only thing I was worried about was when I got the motor it had a small amount of water and rust in it, from pressure washing it. The hoses and holes where poorly taped off with box tape. I would buy another motor from them again, I would just ask them to not wash it.
