    A precise fit.

    This items is a perfect fit for my lathe and effectively doubles the usefulness of the tool. If you read the reviews and are worried about alignment issues you can relax. Any heavy iron tool you purchase might have a casting rough spot that needs filing but this piece is as good as it gets. From "open the box" to drop dead alignment took less than 15 minutes.

    This makes a Jet 1221-VS lathe versatile for spindles and multiple piece turning.

    It's the second lathe extension I have owned since 2006. I had a public craft shop where I could demo and teach spindle turning. Notice the width of the bed as it made a very sturdy surface supporting a OneWay center steady which reduces material whip. The extension increased the lathe's capacity by 20" for turning spindles of all kinds like rolling pins, cabbage mashers, tool handles, dowels and other long items. I decided to upgrade again (my seventh lathe purchase since 2001) in 2014 to a General-international 25 200M1 because it's headstock rotates outboard for bowl turning. A few months later September 2014 my situation in the public craft shop facility ended unexpectedly. I was misjudged about an issue with a new employee and my contract was cancelled.
