This game is Spawn porn for lovers of both the comics and animated series/movie. The combat is fairly rudimentary but the unlockables and excellent multiplayer experience make up for the (now) dated gameplay. I highly recommend this to Dreamcast collectors looking for something that's fun and addicting!

Don't listen to SquirmyWormy's 2006 review. This is the only good Spawn game to date! The music was good for it's time. There's a total of 31 playable characters to play with. It's fun to play with friends! Yeah it's got it's flaws here and there, like the camera angles and not being able to do certain things. It's definitely a hidden gem and one game to collect for the Dreamcast since there are zero ports which makes it really rare. It gets really fun once you unlock the overpowered characters to play as such as D.A. Spawn with his giant Buster Sword lol. A lot of the characters have these abilities unique to themselves like transformations. Overall, in the demons hand is a really fun game to play, especially with friends. Easy to pick up and play. Not hard to learn at all, and it's hard to find these days unless you wanna pay an arm/leg for it.Read full review

in one sitting. i friggin' love this game to pieces. i was heavily into spawn growing up, and playing this game almost gave me chills i was so excited. my friend has this game, and we spend the better half of two days playing and playing, trying to unlock all the secrets. first off, it's just so badass playing as nearly any of these characters (except cogliostro = he just sucks). they all have their own weapons, moves, abilities, strengths & weaknesses. there's no shortage of areas to wander either. the hidden power-ups & weapons add to the fun (ALL kinds of heavy artillery & swords) the controls take a little while to master, but once you do, it feels like second nature to make spawn do complicated, awesome manuevers & stunts. the music seemed to be the generic rock-type stuff, keeps the pace going through the game. it doesn't really add any atmosphere to the game, but who cares? you can always throw on some moonsorrow or asmegin cds to get the fight flowing through you. they've also incorporated a handy little map which shows the location of yourself (of course), your enemies and bosses. it really comes in handy with the large areas. there are tactics to be utilized, such as how some characters have lots of guns, but only a small knive, and others have huuuuge swords, axes & melee weapons, the characters with the guns would be wise to attack from a distance, a higher altitude maybe, whereas those with melee weapons would be advised to attack from the shadows, learning some stealth habits and the back entrances to places. as this game moves at a near-blistering pace (one bloodbath after another, constant slayings all around), it's quite easy to get cold cocked coming around a corner, going through a doorway (the enemies are as ruthless as they are cheap). but where this game really shines, is in the two-player mode. if you wanna screw up your partner you can just mow 'em down or chop 'em in half! (which i did by 'accident' a lot of times :D hehehe) the added bonus of being able to play it as a two player game using a computer controlled partner doesn't hurt either. a few different modes (i'd forgotten which), a plethora of unlockables, TONS of manuevers & abilities to master, lots of hidden weapons, large areas to mangle people in, not to mention playing as all your favorite characters from the spawn comic, this game is not to be missed. TWO BONGS UP!Read full review
This game is one of the best Spawn games made next to the Nintendo Spawn. The graphics aren’t that great but the character selection is awesome and the gameplay is pretty cool with minor exceptions.
