    EXCELLENT PRODUCT

Best product of its type !!! Used this product for years, and years (@40). I remember when this product was sold in Glass Bottles. I am so glad that Birchwood Casey is still in business, and still have this product. Instead of Gunstocks, I now used it to refinish Vintage Archery Bows.!!!

  • WORKS WELL

Used this making 3 guitars have done 2 different finish styles pleased with the results and ease of use. Taking time to figure the best methods to get the results you want is worth it. It is easy to use and produces a good looking finish and is easy to repair when damaged or scratched. It is a softer finish than what you will find on most guitars but they are more caustic, sometimes require special equipment etc. Bought this new bottle to repair damage to the side the classical guitar I made a few years ago. It slipped out of my hands onto some tools with damage to the finish and not the wood. Recently used it to touch-up the finish on a Martin guitar I made ten or more years ago to get it ready to give to my daughter.

  • Easy to use finish, looks great, needs no special equipment to apply.

I use Tru-Oil to finish guitars which I build. I like the simplicity of wiping on the finish and that the finish is safe to use. It gives a low gloss finish with a very nice feel for the player of the instrument. Not a particularly rugged finish, but easy to repair; just sand the affected area and wipe on more Tru-Oil.

  • Brings out the beauty in wood and dries fast

This product, Tru Oil, by Birchwood Casey is excellent for knife handles and many other uses. Here is what is great about it - it applies just like linseed oil, but additives, polymers, I believe, make it dry very quickly so several coats can be made. The shine can be controlled after it dries to be slick or mat, or anything in between through the use of steel wool or other surface treatments. It works great on some oak I used. I applied it until the pores were full, sanded/steel wool and re-applied to get a great even finish. It certainly brings out the beauty of wood. Far superior to poly-acrylic and varnish. Great for many uses.

  • Tru oil

I found this oil works best for me when I put the plastic btl with contents, into a jar of hot water for a few mins. The hot oil seems to penetrate the wood more evenly without creating too many runs. Small amounts of dried varnish type residue that gathers on the cap or inside of the btl, can be removed by pouring some oil into a small patch of cloth and what drips through the underneath is wiped on the piece and the dried varnish specs remain on the upper part of the cloth. I found this helps sanding off the imperfections between applications. Cheers, Dylan
