    Good buy

Dvd was wrapped and sealed. Played on my american region 1 blu ray player. And it arrived a week early. Movie review: It was a bore. I love Shakespeare, but this is a snoozefest, even kevin cline cant save it.

    DVD didn't play

I had the identical problem with a "like new" DVD from Amazon and returned it. Ordered a "new" DVD via eBay. Came in record time; only it didn't play. I am not alone, of 105 reviews on amazon, 3 didn't play. I enjoyed the movie on Youtube more than once and planned to buy the DVD for some time as the movie was pulled off Youtube. My new Sony Blu-ray DVD player is not the cause. An unsolved mystery.

  • As I Love it

I like to collect copies of different titles. I have the Olivier version also excellent performances, the Helen Mirren BBC great performandce and The Toronto Shakespeare festival VHS copy, I wish they would release a DVD copy of this. An excellent piece of work by Branagh. Kline as Jaques is perefect. He does not try to steal the film and blends perfectly with this fine cast. Brian Blessed, a fixture in Branagh films is magnificent in his dual roles as Rosalind's Father and Uncle. No. this is set in Japan and not in the Ozarks

  • Shakespeare comes alive again with Kenneth Branagh

I loved the movie. Again Mr. Branagh brings Shakespeare alive for us all. The setting of the movie and the actors added to the beauty of this story. I think the only thing that may have improved on it, is if he had a lead role in it. Congratulations for a great production. I look forward to the next one!

  • As you like it (hollywoods version)

As an already great Shakespeare story, full of comedy and "romance," Hollywood attempted to recreate it for our entertainment. While not as popular as I assume Mel Gibson's Hamlet was, it was a very interesting movie. Watching this movie or reading this play, makes me wonder whether one of the comedic elements is Shakespeare's playing on how some people view love. Making fun of the concept of "love at first sight." But that is just my opinion. If you are looking for a "buy or don't buy," type of advice, then here you go...rent. It is good enough to see, but Shakespearian plays aren't something most want to see over and over again. Every now and then it is a great movie to watch!
