Very portable welder that makes life easier.
I purchased the 5200GP as I wanted a TIG and a Plasma cutter in one that I could haul to the top of platforms in our plant. I also needed it to be dual voltage. This unit has proved to be very easy to use and pretty rugged. The TIG has high frequency start and pulse which is nice. It does not use a foot pedal like a more traditional TIG. Instead, you program in your settings such as pre-purge, starting amperage, ramp, final amperage, down-ramp, final amperage, and post purge. This took a little getting used to but now that I have it down, I am very pleased with the results. The really nice thing about using it with the program and the finger control is that it makes welding in areas that are hard to reach much easier; how do you control a foot pedal while hanging off a tuna-tower or ... I purchased the 5200GP as I wanted a TIG and a Plasma cutter in one that I could haul to the top of platforms in our plant. I also needed it to be dual voltage. The really nice thing about using it with the program and the finger control is that it makes welding in areas that are hard to reach much easier; how do you control a foot pedal while hanging off a tuna-tower or underneath a car? The pulse feature helps make really nice welds on thinner material by allowing you to control the heat. Again, all this can be programmed in. The plasma cutter is a real beast. I have only cut up to 1/4" (6mm) plate thus far but it has no problem in cutting through steal. The pilot arc is helpful here to by providing a nice pierce to get started. A word of warning, you will need a decent air compressor to run the plasma cutter. I used a cheap one from HF that always had water in it and had nothing but grief. I got a big Dewalt continuous air compressor and it runs very nicely. As a stick welder, the 5200GP is much better than I could have hoped for. I have only used it for light stick welds mostly 7014, and 6013 3/32 rods. The arc control really helps out. The only thing I haven't quite found a use for was the finger-tip controller. Once you use the 4T program the controller doesn't seem useful. All in all, if you need a light weight TIG, GMAW, and plasma cutter, this machine will do the job. As to longevity, it has lasted a year with a 200 lb gorilla running it so that say a bit.

Holly wow amazing
