    ASUS A7V600-X Motherboard Socket A for AthlonXP

    This an old motherboard for the 32-bit Athlons that are still useable with today's software. A probable reason for their continued popularity on eBay is that fact that a lot of boards from this era are failing due to bad capacitors and consequently, people are buying replacements. This particular model was bought to replace a failed Asrock board (ironically a budget subsidiary of Asus). Although a Via rather than SiS chipset is used, there are still limitations over the number of DDR400 DIMMS that can be used in the 3 possible slots. Overclocking is performed in BIOS rather than jumpers. Although this is more convenient, there are is a design bug which has still even today not been resolved by ASUS: on reboot the multiplier is set to the CPU default even if the FSB is raised to the next ...
