    A sensible blend

I'm very much a beginner with guitars, and I'm slowly creeping up on the point where I'll start recording, but the first time I saw a set of strings like these (GHS Boomer Thin-Thicks, but they represent the same concept) I had to try them. They strike me as a very sensible compromise. Most complicated lead guitar riffs focus on the unwound strings, which in a set like this are medium-light and thus easy to finger, while heavier picking on the wound strings for rhythm guitar can benefit from the loudness and durability of thicker gauges. The three-pack provides redundancy (I haven't broken one of these strings yet, but eventually doing so is inevitable) at a good price.

  • Modern metal strings

These strings are good for any kind of style of playing. Also very good for many different tunings. From E standard, Eb, D standard, Db, C standard to drop D, drop Db, drop C, drop A. Although your fingers will have to get used to playing the heavy bottoms, especially in E standard-D standard because it will be very tight. Also, anything lower than C standard- drop B would be pushing your luck with the tuning stability. Also take into account the scale length; longer scale, tighter strings. Hope this helps.

  • Great Tonal Range

Strung these up on my Ibanez AX, and I love the clear highs and the thick lows. I was worried about the thickness of the lower strings, but these are very easy to play...at least for me. I will be getting more of these, especially for my LP guitars.

  • Love slinky’s.... but not these

They came on time and they’re exactly as advertised but they’re not for me! I’m looking for some strings to put on my Jackson Chris Broderick. I’ve always used fatter strings and tune to drop c# but my usual 11-54s are just too tight on that long scale guitar! But slinky’s are definitely my string of choice!!!
