    Alfa Model AWUS036NHR Long Range USB WiFi Adaptor

    This Alfa USB adaptor with the long white antenna is the very best yet that I have owned. It outperformed, by an obvious margin, my previous best USB adaptor, an EngeniusEUB9603H which outperformed my Engenius EUB362EXT. The Engenius adaptors are no longer easily available so I was happy to find the Alfa adaptor. I intend to buy a spare one soon. The price is certainly easy to live with.

    Meh. Not sure if this is buying me any improvements.

    When comparing signal strength and speed between native Toshiba laptop WiFi network adapter and the Alfa I would get Alfa speeds that were only half of what the Toshiba was providing. So, not sure if this device is a good deal or not. I also switched between the Alfa standard antenna and the supposedly stronger amplified antenna but saw no difference in number of networks identified or speed of connection.

    RV WIFI Network Setup

    The Alfa AWUS036NHR antenna works great. I haven't installed the software of the Alfa AWUS036NHR on my computer and connected it directly to my computer. I use it in a WIFI setup for my RV with the Alfa R36 router. If your Alfa R36 router has the latest Firmware, just plug the Alfa AWUS036NHR into to the Alfa R36 and follow the instructions to setup a RV WIFI network. You'll have to try different settings on the R36 router to get it setup so it doesn't interfere with other WIFI equipment in the area but that wasn't to difficult either.

    Definite Improvement

    Have used Alfa adapters for 4-5 years and have never been disappointed. They definitely improve range. We RV quite a bit and are frequently told that wifi is only available in office. Hook up the Alfa and usually get it in my rig.
