When I first found this book I really liked it, however, the price was rather high so I looked around a little more. It wasn't long and I came back to purchase this book as it was the best one I could find! It has all colored photos on every page and easy to follow step by step directions to make over 20 projects for 18" dolls. I am planning on teaching five of my granddaughters (ages 6 to 11) to sew this summer and this is the size doll they play with the most. This is the PERFECT book to use as it explains basic sewing techniques in very simple terms. It starts at the very beginning, explaining about the basic tools needed for sewing, choosing fabric, using a pattern, glossary of sewing terms and teaches how to hand and machine sew. It also shows the finished sewing projects modeled on dolls. The book cover and pages are very good quality, too. I highly recommend this book!
The instructions are clear and can be made by beginner sewers. I made the doll pants in the picture using this book. The fabric was an old tshirt. More advanced sewers can embellish the projects. Please note most of the patterns use knit fabric. Unfortunately my copy did not come with the patterns so I had to borrow them from my local library.
I am teaching my two granddaughters (8 and 10) to sew. Both have 18" dolls and are so excited about sewing for them. Instructions are pretty good. I'm pleased
