    Very good - If you're a fan of 1950s and 60s Musicals

Back in the 1950s there were quite a few Broadway show musicals that were adapted to the Big Screen. Annie Get You Gun, Carousel, The King and I, Kismet, Oklahoma, Showboat, and South Pacific were some of them. If you like these, then you'll like Kismet. I thought Howard Keel was outstanding in his role, and the supporting cast was excellent. He was funny, and has an excellent voice. Ann Blyth is beautiful, with a great voice. I also really enjoyed Dolores Gray as the bored wife who pursues Howard Keel, and Sebastian Cabot as the neglectful husband was funny. If you're more of a fan of the modern, fast paced, profanity laced, bombs, bimbos, and bullets style of film, you probably won't like Kismet. I'm a bit more eclectic, and like a broad range of film genres and periods. ...

  • beautiful costumes, great vocals

My wife and I greatly enjoyed watching this film version of one of my favorite musicals. Parts of it are well-filmed, well-acted, and well-sung, but the deletion of "Rhymes Have I" is as regrettable as the deletions of "No Way to Stop It" and "How Can Love Survive?" in the Sound of Music movie. With Borodin's sweeping melodies and Wright and Forrest's clever and erudite lyrics, Kismet is one of my favorite musicals, and for the most part this film version lived up to my expectations, although for a top-notch audio experience, nothing beats the original cast soundtrack recording.

  • This is a brand new DVD of this movie. ...

This is a brand new DVD of this movie. I was really glad to be able to find it since it was released in 1955 and I wasn't sure if there was any DVDs to be had.

  • Pretty adequate rendering.

The main story is pretty well done (could do without Ann Miller) but the best bit is a song-and-dance number from Keenan Wynn and James Whitmore. Who knew Whitmore coulddo a soft-shoe?

  • Still good

A step back into my 4,5,6th grade childhood. I love it just as much at 80 as I did at 10.
