    Unusual telling of the Dunkirk story

    Little character development and a non-linear story line, yet a viscerally powerful film told from 3 viewpoints.....land, sea and air. A great tribute to the men who saved and were saved.....an escape that changed the course of the war. Very little CGI used, instead innovative live sets and film techniques to capture dog-fights, sinking ships, etc. Great extra features track the films progress. If you like Christopher Nolan's other films, you will like Dunkirk.

    Terrible movie

    This supposed to be a movie with great special effects, but with every wide shot one could plainly see modern buildings next to the beach, Even the plane fights were boring and shot with terrible effects..Find and watch the documentary with vintage film footage.

    VG movie, still missing some facts

    Dunkirk dealt primarily with the failed rescue of British troops off the beaches of Dunkirk, and did a very dramatic, realistic, in some cases, brutal of this event. However, no mention was made of how this event came to be. Winston Churchill's role was left completely out, as was an American involvement. Seems Nolan's turn was very PC.

    disappointing

    I watch quite a few wwii/history videos and maybe have high expectations-dunkirk was at best an average war dvd- hard to compare to movies like saving private Ryan or English patient although with their better story lines/more money/better directors etc-dunkirk just seemed not that well crafted - If you looking for a good www/period movie recently I recommend that you look into either Boy in the striped pajamas or the zookeepers wife - sorry - Dunkirk just seems below average and not that well done

    Yes, but!

    The DVD was brand new and was delivered promptly and packaged very well. I had no problem with the DVD, it was a very clear blu-ray. This is why I rate it 5 stars. The problem is that the movie was, what I considered, only a 3 star movie. The plot moved very slowly and from how I viewed the beaches at Dunkirk, they should have used a lot more computer generated images on troops, attacks and ships inbound, it looked sparse. The only time you actually see a German, other than you know they are probably flying a few planes that you see is at the end when they capture an English pilot. It could have definitely been better!
